When was the phrase/idea "intellectual property" invented?

In Europe, French author A. Nion mentioned "propri�t� intellectuelle" in his "Droits civils des auteurs, artistes et inventeurs", published in 1846. That would seem to be the earliest mention of the phrase, though the idea of protecting discoveries, inventions, and "works of the mind" was around before that in both French law and the Jewish Talmud.
