Burning of the Reichstag - 911 attacks is it just me or is this very similar?

Hitler ordered the burning of the Reichstag, and then denounced it as a terrorist attack in order to frighten the German people into giving him the power of dictatorship, and thus plunged Germany into a self destructive war for his own twisted idea of killing off the Jews. If the people of Germany were confronted with the evidence that this was an inside job (and I ume many were) Did they react the same way that the ultra right wing conservatives do when confronted with evidence that Bush at least had prior knowlage if not responsibility for the "terrorist" attacks of 911.
