Can a Taurus guy change his nature?? Astrologers and Taurean people please, please help me here.?

I knew a Taurus guy when we were teenagers in love for years. But there were things and people that got in the way, so we broke up. We both were hurt, but didnt show it to each other. However we were just platonic friends for a while. Then we went seperate ways. There was no contact from either of us. Now 20 years later, we met again. He is interested in me, and I still like him a lot. The mutual attraction is strong!! But Taurus has told me that he has changed from the kind of guy he was when we both were young and together...he says he's not 'that guy' anymore. Now I don't know what to think, or how to make sense of this. Somebody PLEASE tell me, can Taurus people change their nature or personality?? Is that even possible with stubborn, steadfast Taureans?? Or did he mean he does not or can not like/ love me the way that he used to?? I'm a Cancer/Leo cusp woman. He IS the love of my life, but I didnt tell him that as yet..lol.
