What is the present state of the McCain marriage kerfuffle?

As an aussie I heard one report that he had left his comatose wife(whom he had married in church) and applied for a marriage license for wife#2 whilst wife#1 was still alive, which he had previously denied, which would technically make him an oath breaker and forsworn, and presumably an unfit president. If the report is untrue, which I presume it is, as I have heard no more about the story here (and we love stories of other countries political hypocrisy in Australia, so we feel a bit better about our crop of sinners!) how much is the defamation suit against the slandering journal?
