Why my home grown plants don't grow?

Could be fungal rot, could be poor nutrition, the weeds surely didn't help. Fungus can be a huge problem in hot wet areas. If you can look at the roots, healthy roots should be creamy white. If they're brown or black they probably have a fungal disease. Did the lower leaves shrivel up and turn brown? That may also indicate a fungal disease.
